Inspiration

Recently, an underrated and unrecognized food stall named "Baba ka Dhaba" gained massive popularity and customers after a certain influencer promoted it on his Instagram handle.

This massive boost of customers and cash flow really helped the owners come out of the financial burdens they were facing.

Problem

The problem is that like "Baba ka Dhaba", several other such businesses don't have a lot of reviews and are not recognized by culinary professionals. These businesses often have to go through difficult financial times and some even fall into debt traps. All of this is because of uncontrollable factors such as the lack of capital to invest in promotion or marketing to attract customers.

Solution

A platform that incentivizes its users with redeemable credits for promoting local businesses with fewer reviews on their social media handles. The system will show users with such specific local businesses around them so that they can visit those locations and review them and if they feel so, promote it. Then they would need to verify their promotional post/story to get the calculated redeemable credits.

Verification

  1. Tweet

    Each tweet link is verified by taking the link and getting the tweet's content, data, and author. The tweet is only considered verified if the author is the user, the date is less than 24 hours from the submission time of the "verify" form, and the content has the name of the chosen local business.

  2. Insta Story

    Through the story's link, the username and date are checked. As for the content, that is done by running OCR on the screenshot. If it has the name of the business, then the story is verified.

  3. Insta Post

    Through the post's link, the username and date are checked. The content is checking by looking through the post's caption whether it has the name of the business or not.

Credit Calculation

For each verified promotion, the user would be getting credits based on the method of promotion and the number of followers the user has on that particular platform.

A verified promotional Instagram story would give the user $10 F$ markrates where $F$ is the number of followers the user has on Instagram.

A verified promotional Instagram post or Tweet would give the user $20 F$ markrates where $F$ is the number of followers the user has on Instagram or Twitter respectively.

Business Plan

The platform will generate revenue from its partner program. The partner program will be where brands and companies can sign up to get to advertise to our userbase in the form of direct ads or redeemable credits. In exchange, they would pay us a monthly fee depending on how much of the userbase they want to advertise their product to.

Target Audience

The platform's target audience would be influencers having a following of 1,000 to 50,000. These types of low and mid-tier influencers are not too famous to not go out of their way to help someone and are also looking to make money out of their influence.

Markrate creates a win-win situation for both the local businesses and the influencers wherein the local businesses get a shout-out and more footfall while the influencer earns money from the promotion.
